Nominated by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers and also the Methodist Women in Ireland (South Belfast Branch): -

Rosemary Rainey graduated from Queen’s returning there to various positions in 1982.  Teaching in Orangefield schools from 1968 to 1995, she rose to Head of the English Department.  She became a Board member of the Belfast Education &Library Board  in 2002 rising to Chair from 2010 to 2015.  Rosemary has been a member or Council member of many organisations, too numerous to mention, in education and a number of Government Working Groups.  In addition, she served on many bodies connected with the Methodist Church, road safety; music; public speaking, Belfast Healthy Cities and the Women’s Forum.  It is difficult to summarise Rosemary’s attributes, a woman of integrity, discernment, compassion, she encourages and influences by her sheer commitment and enthusiasm.  She was awarded the OBE in 2011.  IMG_2457.jpgnews.jpg
