Eileen Bell started
public life in 1983 becoming a Councillor for Bangor West. She held various
positions within the Alliance Party rising to Deputy Leader in 2001, a position
she held until 2005. In the interim she
was elected to N.I. Assembly in 2003 and appointed Speaker to the Transitional
Assembly from 2006 to 2007. Eileen chairs
Women into Politics, is Vice President of Autism N.I. and the Townswomen
Guilds. Awarded the CBE in 2008 for community
and political service, she was involved with the Peace People and the Peace
Train bringing together women of all or no religion from all parts of Ireland. Eileen is a woman who has given her life to
helping others without regard for herself.
